    Aaaawwwww yes!

By the way Rob, my wife and I framed that original art you gave me and it’s up in our living room now. Thanks a bundle.

You’re welcome. And to anyone that I owe art to, it’s coming as soon as I get my head out of my ass.

That is great news. I am glad to see there is still a market for scud. I am a big fan of your work, not only from an artist stand-point, but it is very clever and delightfully humorous. I love the illustrations and dig alot of the conceptual art you have on your website. I can’t wait for the day when you can make a scud movie, which will, by no coincidence, be the exact same day that i will crap myself on purpose and not care to clean myself for the rest of the day….that is happiness. Stay sane.

    Wow, this looks fantastic.

For someone that only finished Scud a decade after starting to read it, this is a big deal. Since its still so new, yet at the same time the material of the first few issues has always kind of resonated for me when I first picked them up and flipped through them when I was 10. I remember thinking how cool they were, but how weird they were when compared to the X-Men comics I read.

And after the issues started disappearing and the Comic book store owner said that they weren’t getting shipments anymore, it was a big let down. So after I re-discovered you and your work here 10 years in the future (More like 8 though since i’ve been watching 101 for a while.) I made it a point to try to get an entire collection of Scud, because I HAD to finish it.

I only finished the last issue really only a few months ago. Finished the “Tales” after that, and I had Doug tell me to ask him about why Jesus had roller skates the next time I saw him in person.

And that was it, that was the entire surreal trip, and it was awesome.

And now, after a decade, a Scud Action Figure, this is just awesome, and on top of that you’ve got all of these new projects, and your movie is up for a Globe, its a good year to be a Schrab fan.

One question though, do yoou know if he’s actually going to be articulated, or is he going to be a MacFarlane-style Statue?

Well that obviously answers the question from my last post. Can’t wait to see the finished product!

Wow, it’s about time. Totally hoping they have a interchangeable warearm. And if all goes well? Drywall?

Will it have joints and articulation or will it be a statuette type thing?

Either way, I’m definitely gettin’ it.

last i heard it will be articulated.

Shocker toys says “Indie Spotlight will feature 20+ pts of articulation in every 6 inch scaled figure.”

A scud figure would seem somewhat worthless any other way.

Am I the only one that thinks the head is not positioned on their the right way…...Scuds head doesnt attach in the middle.

I’m obviously excited about this. Scud deserved an action figure. Persoanlly, I don’t know of a better time to release one. Comic figures have increased in quality a great deal since Scud was first released. Thanks for giving us fans just another thing to hold onto.

Too bad this company has no history of actually getting product to market. Rob, you’d be better off following Mike Allred’s lead and signing with Marvel Toys to get Scud on store shelves. Shocker will never actually get these to market.

I just finished watching all the Vlogs cause I found out about Scud 21 tonight(I stopped checking the Firemen Press site years ago).
I am really psyched. And seeing some of the drawings briefly in the Vlogs…wow…looks fucking great.
Scud #4 found me in ‘94 and it blew me away- the cover, the art, the print quality, the humor, and the obvious love for film. Besides that issue was better than Victoria Secrets catalogs for a 13 year old kid- zombie dinosaurs cyborg gangsters and Voltron…are you shittin me?! I put in an order to Firemen press and got a box of love a month later- the previous three issues of Scud (still got), a bitchin’ Scud shirt (gone…fuck), and a Dead Alewives VHS tape (might still be at my folks house). I have every Scud issue and all the collections. When you stopped I was bummed but I moved on- also I was pretty well immersed in college hijinks.
Your characters were so well drawn especially Drywall: the emotions of a fragile boy endowed with the powers of an existential god. The plot was great because the fun and action always made me smile with joy until there was a cold-blooded sucker punch that would change the characters and their world. This always upped the stakes for me. La Cosa Nostroid was also great especially that last artist you guys had was a great fit.
So now I spent all night dorking out to watch the Vid Logs, Robot Bastard, and the movie your wife wrote and directed.
Now I am back. Thanks for doing your thing and for finishing Scud.

    Dear Rob and Friends,

I’ve loved Scud since issue #3 and I’ve never given up hope… hell, youre talking to a guy who is still waiting for Tick #13 -Ben Edlund could drop dead and I’d still have hope they’d find it in his vault! I guess I’m overly optimistic -but you’ve proved that sometimes it’s worth while! Ive done everything I could to keep my love for Scud going by checking ebay every week for anything that i dont already have -for a while there some kid was making clay statues of scud, i bought everything he put up and made special orders of 7 additional characters… spending well over $200! (I’ll send a picture if you tell me where to send it, the artist is pretty darn good)

I’ve even used the figures as examples to my students for a character creation project in clay. (I’ve been a high school art teacher for 2 years) Furthermore i have 2nd copies of ALL of the Scud and Scud spin offs in my file cabinet in my class that i loan to any student who is interested in comics -this has come to over 15 students who are now nearly as die hard as i am (with the exception of a couple kids who read issues 1-2, and just werent ready for the awesomeness that is Scud)!

Anyway being a die hard fan i have one further request of you or anyone out there. I believe the name of the artist was Tony Elwood, who made AWESOME Scud digital art… he had a good 20-30 amazing 3-D looking pics! I downloaded them all 10 years ago and made a screen saver out of them, but since then they have been lost (I blame System)! Does anyone out there know how i can buy, steal, Download or be sent any of these pictures? Theres one of Scud on the miniplane, that i miss more then my mom’s potato pancakes!

Anyway thanks to all the Scud fans who bitched at Rob enough to make this happen! And Rob, youre my hero! Anyone who puts aside there career for months on end to do something like this for the fans… wow. I can appreciate how difficult that must be, if someone said, hey take a year off of getting paid so that you can draw me a cool comic book…. well I don’t have it in me. Your dedication to the fans WILL be remembered…

PS Ben Edlund, if you read this your 4 page fold out in the newest Tick comic was crap…. I waited well over ten years for a continuation of the Tick Receiving all that junk from Barry and going after the Terror and Multiple Santa Why cant you be as stand up as Rob here…. let this guy inspire you to do whats right! I believe you mayve inspired him once – and you both have inspired me! (but Rob’s better now)

Just found out at the chicago comicon that you will be finishing up the SCUD saga. SCUD was one of my favorite comics back in the day and I was very disappointed when SCUD ceased publication. I look forward to SCUD 21!

    Scud 21
Here’s the cover of the first book done by the awesome Ashley Wood, Scud the Disposable Assassin #21 “Return of the Over-Used Muse.” Released by Image

That’s right, for those of you who already have the previous books this is good news! And for those who do not, never fear the Big-Ass Scud book featuring Scud 1-24 will be out June 2008, right after Scud #24 comes out. This way you don’t have to wait so long for the final book!

It’s kinda cool. For a few short months Scud the Disposable Assassin will be alive again. I never thought I’d see the #21 on the cover of Scud but here it be.

Each cover will be done by a Guest artist-

#22 – Jim Mahfood (March 2008) “Challenge of the Over-Used Muse”

#23 – David Hartman (April 2008) “Retaliation of the Over-Used Muse”

#24 – Doug Tennapel (May 2008) “Death of the Over-Used Muse”

The book breaks up nicely into four installments and will feature pin-ups and cool shit inside. Only 15 pages to go and I’m done! I smell a Scud Vlog a comin’!

Scud 21 was awesome! it was so true to the original stories and art… it was better then a new star wars trilogy! i was shocked about what happened with Oswald, but after reconsidering…. (Spoiler Alert!) you dont seem to get attached to many characters in your books… no one other then Scud appears in more then like 6 issues. I was also impressed by the story…. it really almost seemed like the end was planned since the beginning… things like the easter egg, and jeff, and marvins mannequins…. the way you connected things from the origin were close to seemless! nicei work! Now when is issue 22 coming out lol…. and talk image into bringing back Tales from the vending machine! I know your work with scud is over…. but maybe some other creative teams could give it a whack! That was always a good idea!

Well Shocker finally produced the Scud Action Figure. I bought one and he’s everything I’ve wanted for the last 15 yrs or so. I guess the 2+ yrs for them to get him made doesn’t seem so bad now (waiting for it to ship was unbearable though.) A great fig and thanks to Rob for letting it happen. So Rob, did you get one? what did you think of it? Can we get them to make some other characters? The rest of you. What are you waiting for?!? Go get one before they’re gone!
