Geeze, we should be re-written more often.
Check out what Ebert and Mr. Roper said. Here’s an audio clip…

So, have you seen this yet? Any idea how many changes have been made?
Yeah, I haven’t seen it yet, and I’m really sorry that it was your idea, that was rewritten, but your name is still attached to it. But mostly I’m just sorry that there are so many critics and movie goers out there who have no idea what constitutes “good” animation, or “stunning” visuals.
This awkward looking motion captured garbage that Sony and Dreamworks puts out is really really ugly.
How will you feel if this thing does win Best Animated Feature?
Wow=wee…
Doug Tennapel said he saw it early and liked it. Does that make you anymore hopeful?
Yes. Very.
I drove down Sunset last night and saw a Monster House poster on ever corner. I can’t believe it. I wish I could email a quick time to my 1998-self, subject: Just wait.
My parents are finally excited, for the first time- they get it. They sat through nine years of talking motorcycles, Zoolander brainwashes and potty-mouthery. Mom called “I just saw Monster House on a Tomstone pizza!” I still haven’t seen the movie (Next Monday I will)being a director who came up with the idea it’s hard not to sound bitter -can I even consider this my movie any more when I had nothing to do with it’s production? I’m sure Gil did a fine job.
As of today, I’m letting go of the negativity and embracing this. Monster House is in theatres next week and it’s going to kick ass. I’m really jazzed about it. It looks beautiful, some of my favorite actors are in it. Mr. Back to the Future and Dr. Jaws produced it(I’ll email that to my 1985-self).
I have a big smile on my face and it won’t go away for a long time.
Thank-you, everyone.
Rob, I’m so excited for you. That last comment of yours made me smile.
I’m just starting out, just moved to LA, and so I really, really get the part of your nine years of your parents not getting what you were doing. Because I think mine keep hoping I’ll change my mind and get a real job.
I could not be more geeked for you guys, Rob. I’m looking forward to seeing it.
I had to stop at a Monster House poster and point out your name to my girlfriend. Very coool! Congratulations…see you at the con!
there is a “companion” comic book out to monster house. i flipped through it and got a kick out of this : “based on characters created by rob schrab and dan harmon”.
it was good to see schrab in a comic shop again. the last time was the pin-up he did for Jim Mahfood’s grrl scouts.
I still remember meeting Rob Schrab in Milwaukee in an empty comic convention selling Scud #1. I’m glad to see Rob succeeded like he said he would waaaayyy back then.
I hold him as a symbol that all things are possible if you want them bad enough. He inspired me to chase my dreams, and I have. Keep at it, Rob, and you’ll be much great 9 years from now!

Saw it last night when I should have been writing term papers. Well worth the academic set-back. There was a lot of material in it that seemed like it was written by you and Dan, and the voice-actors did a great job. Congratulations!
I keep telling people “Rob Schrab came up with that idea” everytime I see the commercial
glad to see things are on the up and up! keep crankin’ out the work and I’ll keep watchin’!
I really like you Rob Schrab. You are really cool and funny. Also a great director.
I wish I could wear your ass like a hat.
Rob, I saw your movie this weekend. Great job. Say, I noticed you based the movie in Mayville. Are there any other Schrab secrets that made it in the movie? What’s next? Sarah Silverman? When does that come out?
yo, robbie(in an italian accent) what do u think of ebert. i like his style. the ol’ cooz.
I heard on the Ebert& Roeper page it says “Monster HOuse written by Dan Harmon and Gil Kennan” Terrific.
We are so excited and happy for you! We haven’t seen the movie yet but plan on going tonight! They had a short article in the big Mayville News about you and a very cute picture!! I am glad there is someone from our small town making a name for himself! I knew it would happen for you some day, we were just waiting to hear about it! Hope to see you at the 20 year reunion??
rob, can you tell more about what happened to your monster house script? and what they changed? it just seems weird. maybe i just don’t know about the script selling process.
